Wallpapero respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Data Controller

Wallpapero ("we", "us") is the data controller responsible for personal data processed through this website. You can reach us at privacy@wallpapero.com.

Personal Data We Collect

Depending on how you use Wallpapero, we may collect:

  • Account data: username, email address, hashed password, and any profile details you add (name, bio, location, website, social handles).
  • Content you upload: images and their metadata (title, description, tags) if you submit wallpapers.
  • IP address: temporarily associated with likes and content reports, to prevent abuse (e.g. duplicate likes, spam reports).
  • Cookies and local storage: session identifier, selected language, and your cookie-consent choice (see our Cookie Policy).
  • Email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Name, email, and message content, if you use our contact or report forms.

How We Use Your Information

We use your email to send you wallpaper updates and occasional promotions. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Legal Basis for Processing (EU/EEA Users)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases (Art. 6 GDPR): performance of a contract (running your account), legitimate interests (site security, abuse prevention, analytics), consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies), and legal obligation (e.g. responding to valid legal requests).

Who We Share Data With

We do not sell personal data. We share limited data with service providers who help us run Wallpapero, such as our hosting/CDN provider, and third-party services used to render fonts, icons, and default avatars (which may receive your IP address or username as part of normal web requests). These providers are only permitted to use the data to provide their service to us.

International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.

Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active, and delete or anonymize it after account deletion, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. IP addresses linked to likes/reports are retained only as long as needed for abuse prevention.

Cookies

We use cookies to improve your experience and understand how you use our site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure.

Your Privacy Rights (EU/EEA and UK)

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

You can exercise most of these rights directly from your Profile Settings, or by contacting us at privacy@wallpapero.com.

California / U.S. Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction of it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out preference request where applicable. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of your personal information.

To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at privacy@wallpapero.com.

Where we transfer personal information to a third party located outside Japan, we will inform you of that country and the relevant data protection framework, where required.
